What you will learn:

  • How to select appropriate clay bodies and tools.
  • Making your clay easily workable.
  • How to minimize physical stress by positioning the body and hands strategically for working with up to 25# of clay at a time.
  • How to throw sections to be joined.
  • Principles and techniques for fail-proof joints.
  • Use of torches, fans and other strategies for speed drying.
  • Basic design and compositional considerations.
  • Strategies and techniques for troubleshooting and saves.









The WEEKEND workshop runs from 9:00am to 5:00pm Saturday, 10:00 am to 4:00pm Sunday at my ceramics studio in Brattleboro, Vermont. Maximum enrollment is 6 students to ensure lots of individual attention. Cost: $400*

The WEEK-LONG workshop runs Sunday afternoon through Friday. We will complement our deep dive into big pots with visits to nearby artists and studios. Maximum enrollment is 6 students to ensure lots of individual attentionCost: $950*
